What are behavior presets in After Effects?

Behaviors are presets that animate a layer with expressions instead of keyframes. Apply one and the layer wiggles, fades, drifts or bounces by itself, with sliders in the Effect Controls panel to adjust it.

How do I apply a behavior preset?

Select any layer and double-click the preset in Effects & Presets (Animation Presets › Behaviors). Then change speed and amount in the Effect Controls panel.

What are the Adobe Express presets in After Effects?

They are simple In, Out and Looping animations (Fade, Pop, Slide, Spin, Bungee and others) that match the animations in Adobe Express. They work on any layer.

Why does a fade in/out behavior not show on my layer?

Fade In+Out and the Out presets are tied to the layer's in and out points. Trim the layer to the length you want and the fade follows the ends of the layer.
